Just read that the average installer lays about 1,500 square feet of vinyl plank in a day
Found that stat in an old trade magazine at the supply house. I've been tracking my own jobs for a month and I'm barely hitting 1,200 on a good day. What's a realistic daily pace for you guys on a straightforward residential job?

Remember that guy who bragged about doing 2k a day? He was on a simple rectangle, no cuts. My buddy subbed for him on a real house. Hallways, closets, a kitchen with cabinets. That dude barely cleared 800 feet and was wrecked. Those magazine numbers leave out all the actual work.

Those magazine numbers always seem a bit optimistic. As long as the floor looks good at the end of the day, does the exact square footage really matter?

Honestly though, what happens when you're trying to buy flooring? Don't they need the right numbers to give you enough material?
