The great peony explosion of 2024
I was prepping a big wedding order yesterday, and I had about 50 peonies in a bucket that were just starting to pop open. I went to move the bucket and the handle snapped clean off! The whole thing tipped over, sending water and flowers all over my studio floor. My five-year-old ran in, pointed at the mess, and said, 'Mommy, your garden fell down!' I spent the next hour salvaging blooms and mopping up a small lake. Has anyone found a truly unbreakable bucket brand they swear by?

Oh no, that sounds like a total nightmare! I have to ask, were the peonies mostly okay after their big fall? I've had stems snap just from looking at them wrong, so a whole bucket tipping over... that's the real test of how tough those blooms really were.

Did the peonies bounce back at all or were they pretty much done for? I've had a similar thing happen with hydrangeas once, and those big heads just got completely crushed. With peonies, the petals are so fragile that even a gentle bump can bruise them, let alone a full on spill. It really makes you appreciate how tough some flowers are, even the fancy ones.

Right? Stems snap just from looking at them wrong is the perfect way to put it! I lost a whole vase of tulips last week from a similar bucket disaster.
