Our county archive had a 1972 petition signed only by moms from the housing project.

Hot take: Classic.
What was the petition even for? I bet it was something basic like asking for a crosswalk or a stop sign. The fact it's only from the moms tells you exactly who was paying attention to what needed fixing. Archives are full of stuff like that, where the official record shows who was really doing the work. It's a quiet snapshot of how things actually got done.
