Appreciation post: How an old hand's comment shifted my view on break times

I always figured taking short breaks was slacking off until Pete from the casting line said something. He mentioned how stepping back for a minute helps him spot errors in the mold setup he might miss when tired. Last week, I tried it after a long melt and caught a misaligned core before pouring. Now I see those few minutes aren't wasted, they keep the job right and safe. It's funny how a simple chat can turn your whole approach around. I've even told a couple of the new folks to give it a shot.

Honestly, those quick breaks are a game changer for catching errors. I make a point to take them even when I'm swamped.

Last Wednesday my friend Sarah was finalizing a client report and skipped her usual afternoon break. She sent it over only to find three huge math errors in the first chart, all from staring too long. I showed her your post, @caleba45, and she literally facepalmed. Now she sets a timer for a five minute walk every hour, no matter how busy it gets.
