I finally saw my own rate sheet from a client's point of view

I was cleaning out my old files and found a printed proposal I sent to a bakery in Austin two years ago, with my hourly rate and a huge list of separate charges for revisions and calls. Looking at it now, it just felt confusing and defensive, like I was expecting a fight instead of a partnership. How do you make your pricing feel simple and fair right from the start?

Two years ago? That's a lifetime in this business.

Yeah exactly, @adamellis is right. The tools and platforms everyone uses now didn't even exist back then. What was a best practice two years ago can totally sink you today if you try it. It feels like you have to learn a whole new job every six months just to keep up. The speed is the hardest part, honestly.

Honestly, "a lifetime" is starting to feel generous.
