My neighbor's comment about his old tablet made me rethink my upgrade habit
I was helping my neighbor, Frank, clear out his garage last weekend in Phoenix. He pulled out a first-gen iPad from 2010 and said, 'This thing still loads my morning news just fine.' I was about to buy a new model this month, but his simple statement hit different. It made me wonder if I really need the latest specs or if I'm just chasing upgrades. Has anyone else kept using an older gadget way past its supposed 'expiration date' and been happy with it?

What kind of stuff do you actually do on your tablet that needs the new specs?

Frank's got a point. My old laptop is seven years old and still handles my basic stuff. @miller.avery asks a good question about what needs new specs. For me, it's just web stuff and videos, nothing fancy. The pressure to upgrade is mostly marketing making us feel behind. Why replace something that still works perfectly well for your needs?
