Pro tip: I fixed my phone's terrible battery life by turning off background app refresh for everything except my messaging app.

After my phone, a Pixel 7, was dying by 2 PM for a solid month, I did this and now it makes it to bedtime, so has anyone else found a specific app that's a huge battery hog?

That's a great tip, but turning off background refresh for everything can break some apps. My weather app and calendar stopped updating until I turned it back on. I found Facebook and Instagram were the real battery killers on my old phone. Now I just check them in a browser sometimes.

I get what @caleb241 is saying about some apps needing it, but honestly I just check my weather app when I open it. Turning off background refresh for everything was the only thing that worked for my Pixel too.
