I stick to borosilicate for its strength, but a lot of folks are making beautiful things with softer glass. Which camp are you in?

Seriously, I stick with borosilicate for stuff that gets handled a lot. The softer glass looks great, but it's just too delicate for my taste. It's like choosing between a work truck and a show car.

Exactly, it's all about the use case. That soda-lime glass might have perfect clarity for display pieces, but I've seen it crack just from washing it in water that was a bit too warm. Borosilicate can take that thermal shock and the general bumps of daily use without a second thought.

Borosilicate all the way, no contest. My clumsy hands need that extra toughness. I want to actually use my pieces, not just look at them on a shelf. A soda-lime vase is a heartbreak waiting to happen. Give me the work truck glass every time.
