My date thought glassblowing meant fixing old church windows
I was on a first date and told him I blow glass. He got super excited and asked if I could repair his church's stained glass window! I had to say that I work with hot, soft glass, not the kind in windows. We laughed a lot, but he still brought a broken piece to our next meet-up, hoping I could do something with it.

Yeah, the "people always think" line is so true. I made a simple glass candleholder once and my aunt asked if I could replace her broken bay window. Like, no, I made a tiny lumpy thing that holds a tea light, I'm not rebuilding your house. The guy bringing broken glass to a second date is actually kind of sweet though, he really wanted to make your hobby connect.

I always figured that was just a dumb mix-up, but bringing the broken piece shows he was really listening. It's a pretty nice way to try and connect over your thing. Changes the whole story from a joke to something kinda thoughtful.
