Unpopular opinion: Letting my nephew help with a trigger job taught me a lot about trust.
I was fixing a trigger on a rifle and my nephew wanted to see how it worked. Watching him pay close attention made me think I should give more chances to learn by doing. How do you handle when someone new wants to get hands-on with your projects?

I used to be super cautious about letting anyone touch my projects. Seeing how seriously your nephew took it shows that trust can be the best teacher. Makes me want to give people more chances to try things.

That "trust can be the best teacher" line from @ray_morgan is SO true. It also gives people the space to mess up a little and learn how to fix things on their own later.

My dad let me drive his old pickup on our farm road when I was 14. He just pointed at the gear shift and said not to grind it. Stalling out three times in a row felt awful, but him not grabbing the wheel made me focus on the clutch. That quiet trust, sitting there while I messed up, taught me more about careful action than any yelling ever could. I still drive a manual transmission because of that feeling. It sticks with you when someone believes you can handle the thing in front of you.
