My sister keeps picking hikes that are too steep for our kids.
We planned a family hiking trip with my sister and her children. She chooses trails with lots of elevation gain, and our young kids struggle to keep up. How do we find trails that are fun for both kids and adults without arguing?

Ugh, that's so tough because you want the trip to be fun, not a struggle. I'd take the lead on finding the next hike. Look up trails labeled "kid-friendly" or "easy" with cool payoffs like a waterfall or a lake for skipping stones. Then, text her the links like, "Hey, these look awesome for the kids, wanna pick one?" It puts the choice back in her hands but from a list that works for everyone.

Not to be a downer, but does every hike need to be a big production? (you know, with waterfalls and all) @jade_ellis has a solid plan, but kids often have fun just exploring a trail, even if it's not perfect. I've seen them get excited over finding a weird-shaped stick or watching ants, without any fancy payoffs. Maybe just pick a nearby trail and see what happens, without all the research.

My last "simple hike" involved a spreadsheet.
