My landlord tried to evict me over a broken window I reported 2 months ago

I sent in a maintenance request for a cracked window in my apartment, and now they're claiming I caused the damage and have to pay $400 or leave. Has anyone fought a retaliatory eviction like this in small claims court?

Check your lease terms for a clause about "ordinary wear and tear" - most states that covers cracks from things like temperature changes or settling. Might be your free ticket to fight it.
