Wasted 3 hours on a quick property line dispute that should've taken 20 minutes

I tried to settle a fence issue with my neighbor in Phoenix using a county plat map, but it took me three hours of calling different offices to figure out the lot lines were never recorded correctly. Turns out I needed a licensed surveyor all along. Has anyone else had a simple boundary question turn into a whole day project?

Start by checking if your property was ever officially recorded with a monument or pin. In Arizona, many older subdivisions have screwy plat maps that don't match the actual ground. A licensed surveyor is the only one who can legally set those lines, so you saved yourself future headaches even if it took longer.

My buddy's flag lot in Tucson turned into a whole legal mess until a surveyor fixed it.
