Was dead set against paying for local ads, then tried $200 on Facebook boosted posts
I always thought throwing money at Facebook ads was a scam for plumbers like me. My buddy in Phoenix kept pushing it so I finally threw $200 at a boosted post about water heater repairs. Got 4 solid leads in one week and booked two jobs from it. Has anyone else had luck with cheap local ads or did I just get lucky?

The thing nobody talks about is how boosted posts actually train the Facebook algorithm for you over time. That first $200 is basically you paying Facebook to learn who your real customers are. Your second round of ads will hit cheaper because the system already knows who clicked and who didn't. Most guys quit after one try because they expect instant million dollar returns. But you're building a tiny data set that gets smarter the more you feed it. $200 is basically tuition for Facebook to figure out your neighborhood plumber audience.

You said "got lucky" but $200 for two booked jobs and four leads is actually a solid return for a plumber. My water heater repairs average $400-$700 per job, so that $200 ad paid for itself fast. The trick is targeting really tight like just your service area and specific problems. Most guys I see fail because they boost a generic "we fix everything" post with city wide targeting.
