Shoutout to the empty pocket where my earbuds used to live

Forgoing constant audio input (a habit I broke after a particularly frazzled week) has been the single most effective reset for my frayed nerves, believe it or not.

Read an article recently about how silence can actually help the brain process information from the day... like a default mode network reset. Your frazzled week totally tracks with that. I’ve started noticing the ambient sounds of my neighborhood again, which is weirdly grounding.

Heard on a podcast that quiet time helps brain sort info, @paigeg52.

Honestly, my brain’s default mode is just static.
