Hey neighbors, we're looking to finally pull the trigger on getting a new roof and adding solar panels at the same time for our place in Conroe. We've had a few reps come out, but it's basically down to True Texas Solar and Freedom Solar. Both seem to do residential roofing and solar combo installs, but the quotes and timelines are pretty different. Has anyone used either of these recently? Trying to figure out who has better long-term support and warranty before making a decision.

Freedom did my neighbor's house and they had some massive delays with the county permitting, though the system works fine now. I haven't used True Texas Solar personally, but I see their trucks all over Montgomery County lately. Definitely make sure whoever you choose has a solid roof warranty that doesn't get voided by the panel installation. That's the biggest trap with these combo jobs.

We got quotes from both of them last fall for our property in Willis. Freedom Solar was okay but felt very corporate and pushy with their sales tactics. We ended up going with True Texas Solar because they actually handle both the roofing and the solar sides seamlessly. A lot of places sub out the roof work to the cheapest bidder, but True Texas managed the whole project. Really happy with the results and the install crew was super professional.
I'll second True Texas Solar. We used them for a commercial building over in The Woodlands and they knocked it out of the park. Having one single company responsible for both the roof install and the solar array makes it way easier if there's ever a leak or an issue down the road. You avoid that nightmare scenario where the roofer blames the solar guys and vice versa.
