Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say moderation was just 'curating a safe space'

He was talking to his friend about getting a post removed from a gardening forum for mentioning a weed killer brand. Took me a second to realize he meant the other kind of weed, but the point still stands - they called it 'curation' but it was just a ban with nicer packaging. Anyone else notice platforms using softer words for the same old censorship?

Yeah totally feel you on that. I got a post taken down from a local music forum for saying a certain band's new album was "overproduced garbage." They called it "maintaining constructive dialogue" which is just a fancy way of saying they didn't like my opinion. It's like when Reddit calls things "content quarantines" instead of just admitting they're hiding stuff they don't agree with. Makes you wonder if they think we're all too dumb to notice the word swap. I miss when bans were just bans and we could all move on.

Actually sometimes those rules keep discussions from turning into a total dumpster fire.
