That moment your PC build guide forgets to mention fan curves

I was putting together a new system using a step-by-step guide I found online. Everything seemed perfect until I booted it up and the fans screamed like a jet engine. The guide had all the parts listed but skipped how to set up the fan speeds in the BIOS. Now my 'quiet' office PC is the loudest thing in the house.

Actually, some of the better build guides do link to separate tutorials for BIOS fan control. You just have to search for your motherboard model plus "fan curve tutorial" specifically. It's a bit more work, but it fixes that jet engine problem right away.

Most guides skip BIOS settings altogether because motherboard menus vary so much. They can't write one set of steps that works for every brand. The real first step is usually just finding where your specific board hides the fan control page.

It's a loud but fixable problem, not a real disaster. Those default fan curves are just set to max for safety on first boot. You can always go back into the BIOS later when you have five minutes to google your motherboard manual. It's more of a quick annoyance than a guide-breaking mistake.
