Trying to reduce cognitive dissonance after a bad decision left me more stressed
I justified a poor choice to feel better, but now I'm overthinking everything (typical, right?). How do you handle post-decision regret without spiraling?

Recognize that stewing over a bad call only wastes time you could use to fix things. I once bought a cheap pressure washer that broke down after two jobs. Instead of beating myself up, I saved up for a reliable model and learned to check reviews first. Now, when I mess up, I ask what the lesson is and move on. Overthinking just keeps you stuck in the past. Make a simple plan to avoid the same mistake next time, then get back to work.

Overthinking just keeps you stuck in the past' hits home for me. I actually keep a small notebook where I jot down the mistake and one actionable fix, so it's out of my head and on paper. Last week I rushed a decision and booked a non-refundable hotel for the wrong dates, but after noting to double-check dates before paying, I called and managed to switch it. Isn't it better to have a concrete step instead of just worrying?
