That new robot mop left water stains all over my kitchen floor
I got excited reading about how home cleaning robots are getting smarter, so I bought one to help with my kitchen redo. But when I ran it, it missed spots and left weird water marks on the tiles. The thing kept bumping into cabinet legs and getting stuck under the table. I had to go over everything by hand anyway, which totally defeated the point. It feels like these bots aren't as advanced as the news makes them seem. Has anyone else had a robot fail during a home project?

Did you have to do a ton of prep before you even ran it? Mine needs the floor completely clear of any crumbs or small objects, and it still leaves puddles if the floor isn't perfectly level. It’s like the tech is only smart if your house is already robot-ready, which my old kitchen definitely is not. So you buy this helper but end up working twice as hard to make it function. The gap between the ads and the actual experience is huge.

Totally feel you @lisataylor, the prep work is honestly ridiculous. Mine gets completely stuck on lamp cords or even a single sock, which it then drags around. The marketing really sells this idea of effortless help that just doesn't match the daily hassle.

Read an article calling this the "prep tax." Like you pay with money, then pay again with your time moving stuff. @sarahm19 is right about the cords. Mine eats charger cables whole. Also can't handle a normal door threshold, just bumps it forever. They only work in those perfect showroom homes nobody actually has.
