Shoutout to the vet tech who calmed my dog down during a nail trim

My golden retriever Bentlee hates nail trims. Like full on panic mode. Took him to Roseville Animal Hospital last Tuesday. This tech named Sarah sat on the floor with him for 15 minutes just giving treats. Got it done without a muzzle. First time ever. Anyone else have a good experience with a specific tech there?

Anything for a handful of bacon treats apparently. My shiba inu acts like the nail clippers are a torture device from the underworld so I fully get the struggle. 15 minutes on the floor is some real dedication though, most techs just want to get it over with and restrain them. Love that she didn't just grab the paw and go for it. Bentlee is lucky, my guy still side eyes me when I walk near the closet where the clippers live.

Oh man, @the_dylan that side eye thing is way too real. My old dog used to give me that same look just from the sound of the cabinet latch. Honestly, I think a lot of techs just don't have the patience to sit on the floor and let the dog figure it out. They wanna be in and out in 5 minutes. But that 15 minute floor time is exactly what builds trust, not just for that one trim but for every time after.
