Just realized my evening tutoring sessions are creating tension with my siblings.

I mean, it's great to earn extra cash, but I'm always on my laptop during family dinners now. My brother called me out for being distracted, and it's starting to feel like I'm choosing work over them. Maybe it's just me, but setting specific 'off hours' has helped a bit.

Family dinners are just unpaid tutoring sessions anyway. At least you're getting cash for this one.

Last Christmas dinner turned into a full-on lecture about compound interest from my dad. I swear I learned more about finance than I did in my entire high school economics class. At least with this paid gig, I can invoice for the emotional labor too. Pretty sure my family owes me back pay for a decade of unsolicited advice. Cash definitely makes the tutoring more bearable.

Thought family time was super important until I started tutoring online. As valr69 said, family dinners are just unpaid tutoring anyway. My dad's endless questions over dinner used to annoy me, but now I see them as job training. Setting off hours helps, but realizing all family talk has a teaching side made the balance easier.
