What worries me more is how this kind of thing spreads fear through an entire network... it makes everyone who knows him second-guess what they write too. That quiet ripple effect does more damage than the single takedown, because it shrinks the whole conversation.

Read an article calling this the chilling effect, where one takedown makes a whole community go quiet. That quiet part is exactly what they want sometimes.
