How a flickering porch light taught me about patience in automation
Remember when smart homes felt like magic, not maintenance? My porch light started flickering wildly after a routine update, ruining our cozy evenings. I spent HOURS checking every connection and resetting gadgets, to no avail. Then, I recalled my dad's advice about power isolation from his tinkering days. I set up a separate smart switch group just for that light, and the flickering vanished INSTANTLY. Now, it's the most reliable part of my entire setup, a silent nod to backward compatibility. Sometimes, the solution isn't more tech, but understanding the simple, physical layer beneath it all.

Unplugging the whole circuit for a minute fixed a similar glitch for me. It clears some hidden state that resets don't reach. @caleb241 had the right idea with a separate group, but sometimes you have to fully cut the power, not just the signal. That physical break teaches the system from scratch.
