Go to street food spots at dusk for a chance at discounts. Vendors often give bigger portions to sell out their daily stock. You end up with fresh food and more value, which makes the trip worth it.

Yeah my friend tried that after reading @kevin_davis's tip. She went for tacos right as the sun was going down and the guy basically gave her a burrito sized portion for the regular price.

Remember getting skewers from a cart right at lunch rush once and the meat was kinda tough, like it had been sitting. Went back to the same guy around seven on a later trip and it was a totally different meal, juicy and perfect. He was just standing there smiling instead of looking rushed off his feet. Makes me wonder if a lot of them have a daily cooking rhythm we don't even see.
