Watching old windmill designs reminds me how far we've come

I used to dismiss modern wind turbines as industrial blights, but seeing how efficiently they generate power with minimal footprint changed my mind. It's wild to think we once relied on creaky wooden mills, and now these sleek giants are powering cities, lol.

Modern turbines at the Gansu Wind Farm in China have capacity factors around 45%. I learned that by digging into EIA reports when I was researching renewable energy. If you're on the fence, look up the actual output data versus the visual impact, it's a game-changer. The tech has gotten so good that the aesthetics grew on me, ngl.

That's a fantastic point about Gansu, and digging into the EIA reports really does open your eyes. I had a similar revelation when comparing capacity factors from older installations to modern ones in Texas. For instance, the Roscoe Wind Farm here saw a jump from around 30% to over 40% with turbine upgrades. Once you see those numbers, the sweeping blades against the sky start to look less like industrial clutter and more like elegant efficiency. It's amazing how data can reshape what you find visually appealing.
