My neighbor calls thrift shopping a sport, but I see it differently.

He brags about getting there early to beat others to the good finds. In my view, that turns a nice activity into something stressful. I prefer to go slow and let everyone have a fair chance.

Changed my mind after a few stressful mornings racing for kids' clothes, lol. Used to get up early, fight the crowds, and still miss the good stuff. Then I stumbled in one afternoon and found a perfect kitchen table everyone walked right past. Now I go slow and notice details others miss in their hurry. That rush just isn't worth it for me anymore.

Hearing about beating others to the good finds makes me LAUGH because I'm the guy who shows up late and misses EVERYTHING. My thrift plan is basically hoping no one else wanted the weird stuff I end up with. So I'm all for your slow and fair method, it sounds way less stressful.

Actually find the morning rush kind of fun, like its own weird sport. Missing out on stuff used to bother me, but now the hunt itself is the point. Your method sounds peaceful, but waiting for leftovers would make me twitchy. Sometimes the weirdest stuff gets grabbed first too, so showing up late feels risky.
