Stumped by limited counter space, I found a fold-out table solution.

I live in a tiny house and always struggled with having enough room to prepare meals. My counter was too tiny for anything more than a cutting board. After weeks of frustration, I decided to build a fold-out table that attaches to the wall. It swings down when I need it and tucks away neatly. Now I can cook without feeling cramped, and it was a game changer for my daily routine.

What kind of hinges did you use for that fold-out table? I tried something similar with a drop-down desk in my old apartment. Used some basic piano hinges from the hardware store, but they squeaked like crazy after a few months. Had to take it all apart and grease them up, which was a pain. Ended up switching to heavier duty ones that cost a bit more but worked smoother. That little desk made my work area feel twice as big, even in a closet-sized room.

Mine squeak too because I cheaped out on the hinges. I've just accepted the noise as my table's way of telling me it's working. Now I'm so used to it, a quiet hinge would feel wrong.

Upgrading the hinges honestly makes the whole project feel so much more solid long-term.
