Have you ever seen how focusing on victims instead of the gore can actually change people? Tbh, my friend used to be all about the shocking details in true crime podcasts, but then she volunteered with a victim advocacy group. Hearing firsthand how families just want their loved one remembered as a person, not a headline, really shook her. Honestly, she said it made our own discussions feel shallow before. Ngl, that shift in perspective is what gives this work real weight, not just morbid curiosity.

But does that shift really last? I’ve seen people get super emotional then just go back to their old habits. @theaf26 might be right that it’s just rebranded content.
