Serious question — has anyone else's 2018 Honda Civic infotainment system just... bricked itself?

Mine froze during a navigation update and now the whole center console is a black screen (the dealership quoted $1,200 to replace the unit). Opening this up to see if it's a known issue or just my spectacularly bad luck.

Used to assume these systems were bulletproof until my own 2018 Civic's screen went permanently dark last winter. The dealership's repair quote was enough to make me just start using my phone mounted on the dash. Honestly feels like a widespread manufacturing flaw they're quietly letting owners eat the cost on.

Widespread manufacturing flaw they're quietly letting owners eat the cost on" — that phrase just made my stomach drop. My 2018 Civic's screen started with the ghost touches, randomly dialing people, and then the backup camera just stopped coming on. Hearing this isn't some freak occurrence but what sounds like a systemic failure they're not owning up to is infuriating. That's a major component failing just outside of warranty, and they want over a grand to fix their own mistake? It reeks of a calculated move hoping people will just give up and pay.

Did the dealership mention any known service bulletins for this?
