Had to choose between signing a gag order or losing my job at the warehouse

My boss handed me this paper last Tuesday saying I couldn't talk about the safety violations I found on the loading dock. Three broken pallet jacks, exposed wiring, and a mold issue in the break room. I refused to sign and they let me go that afternoon. Still trying to find another gig but at least I can still talk to OSHA. Has anyone else had to pick between their paycheck and their right to speak up?

Had a buddy who worked at a packaging plant in Ohio and they pulled the same thing on him. Signed it thinking it was no big deal, then found out later his boss was using a company credit card for personal stuff and he couldn't mention it to anyone. He quit three months later and reported them to the state labor board. Took almost a year but they got fined and he got a small settlement, but the stress of staying quiet wrecked him.

@evan_stone that story hits close to home, I signed one too and ended up just quitting after a week.
