My coworker backed me up on a safety report and it finally got noticed

I work at a chemical plant in Baton Rouge. I filed a complaint about a valve leak in June and nobody did anything. But last week my coworker Maria sent in a separate report with photos she took. The safety manager called us both into his office yesterday and said they are fixing it next month. Has anyone else had a situation where it took multiple people speaking up to get action?

Man, stuff like that happens way more than people realize. I was reading about some whistleblower case at a refinery in Texas last month, and it was the same deal - one person says something, nothing happens, then three or four pile on and suddenly management cares. Safety managers are just like everyone else sometimes, they respond to volume and pressure more than the actual issue. Good on Maria for having your back, that's a solid coworker right there. People need to understand that one voice is easy to ignore but a chorus is not, especially when there's photo proof involved.
