My HOA board told me my xeriscaping was too 'messy' so I had to dig up the native grasses I planted last spring.
They wanted a 'cleaner look' with gravel and a single yucca plant, has anyone else had to fight their HOA over native landscaping?

...and that's exactly the problem with HOAs, they want "clean" but they don't want anything that actually requires less water and maintenance. My neighbor got the same runaround for his rain garden, had to rip it out because the board thought it looked like a swamp. They'd rather have a dry dirt patch with three rocks than something that actually works.

Read somewhere that HOAs actually block stuff that helps the environment all the time.
