Rented a thermal camera and found my whole wall was wet

Paid $85 for a weekend rental after my electric bill spiked, and it turned out the previous owner hid a roof leak behind the stucco in the north bedroom. The fix cost me $1,200 but I only caught it because that weird orange patch on the drywall finally made sense. Anyone else ever found hidden water damage from the last seller?

My uncle had the same thing happen with a weird cold spot on his living room floor, turned out the seller had just painted over a mold patch and laid new carpet. It's like people think if you can't see the problem, it doesn't exist, but water has a way of finding the path of least resistance. I've noticed it in my own house too, like that faint musty smell in the laundry room I ignored for months, which was just a slow drip behind the washer. Once you know what to look for, you start seeing all the little clues everywhere, the swollen baseboard, the peeling paint, the creepy crawly feeling that something just isn't right. It's wild how many folks would rather slap a coat of paint on it than deal with the actual issue. lol guess that's why the "hide it and sell it" crowd stays in business.

Moisture meters should be mandatory for home buyers. Amazing how much damage hides behind fresh paint.
