Switched from a drip system to soaker hoses in my xeriscape garden and water usage dropped 40%

I had drip lines running to every bush and cactus in my front yard for years. Always had clogged emitters and leaks at the connections. Got tired of fixing it every spring. Swapped to simple soaker hoses laid along the beds last month. My June water bill came in $12 lower than last year same month. The zinnias and lavender look way happier too. Anyone else had better luck with soakers vs drip in our dry climate?

Ngl I had the exact same issues with drip emitters. Clogged every other week no matter what I did. Swapped to soaker hoses last year and my agave and sage are thriving. Plus the soakers just lay there and work no maintenance at all.

Totally agree with you on soaker hoses. I switched a few years back and never looked back. The clogging issue with drips just drove me crazy, especially with my gravel mulch getting everywhere. Soakers give a nice slow soak that the roots actually get to drink up before it evaporates. My lavender and rosemary have been way happier too, with way less leaf burn from splash back. It is a little messier to snake around beds but once you get them laid out they really do just sit there and do the work. Good advice for anyone fighting with those tiny emitters.
