That new HOA rule about xeriscaping got me thinking...

I was at the Sandia Mountain foothills last weekend and noticed how much water some of those big lawns waste compared to the natural landscape. On one hand, xeriscaping saves water and looks nice with native plants, but on the other hand, some homeowners say it lowers property values and makes neighborhoods look barren. Our HOA is debating a rule to push more xeriscaping in our area on the west side. What do you all think, is the water savings worth the change in curb appeal?

Set my sprinklers to run at 3am to save water and my neighbor called the cops thinking a pipe burst. Had to explain to the officer that I'm just bad at scheduling.

That "pipe burst" call is such a classic neighbor scare, @the_ben. I solved the same problem by sticking a timer on the hose bib and running my system at 5am instead, which is still early but way less suspicious to nearby ears. Nobody wants a cop showing up to explain your watering habits at 2:30 in the morning.
