Kind of sounds like a rough few days but I've been through worse. People act like losing AC for a week is the end of the world but we survived without it for most of human history. The water heater dying at the same time is annoying sure but it's not like you were living in a cave. Just grab some fans and take cold showers for a bit. Honestly the dramatic way people talk about stuff like this makes me roll my eyes sometimes.

You know, I used to be exactly like this. I'd roll my eyes at people complaining about stuff like this and think they just needed to toughen up a little. But after living through a week with no AC during a heatwave while my wife was recovering from surgery, I totally get why people get dramatic about it. There's a big difference between choosing to camp without modern stuff and having your appliances die on you when you're not prepared for it. The lack of control over when it gets fixed is what really gets to you, right?
