Cheap paint booth filters nearly cost me a $4K respray

I ran a comparison last month between the $15 bargain brand booth filters and the $50 name brand ones. After 3 jobs, the cheap ones let overshoot settle back on a pearl white hood, leaving dust nibs everywhere. Had to wet sand and buff the whole thing - ate 6 hours of my weekend. Has anyone else found a mid-range filter that actually works without breaking the bank?

Your mileage is always going to vary with cheap filters, that's just the nature of the game. I've run the bargain ones plenty of times and had them work fine on solid colors, but sticking a pearl white in there with cheap filters is asking for trouble. A mid-range option from a local paint supplier has treated me well for years without needing to spend name brand money.

...and honestly @wood.john that's just how it goes with anything "budget" anymore - sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you're sanding for 6 hours. It's like buying the cheap vacuum bags that tear and shoot dust everywhere. You pay either way, just up front or with your time later.
