Dropped $400 on a cheap spray gun from Amazon and wasted 5 hours on orange peel before throwing it in the trash

That 'professional' HVLP gun was nothing but trouble from the start, so has anyone else had better luck with mid-range brands like DeVilbiss or should I just stick to my old Sata?

Dude honestly that sounds like you got a dud or maybe expected too much from a $400 gun. I've been using a DeVilbiss for like 3 years now and it sprays fine for what I do - not as good as my buddy's Sata but way better than any cheap Amazon junk. Maybe give it another shot with a different brand before writing off the whole thing

Oh man, @torres.jason I feel like you just called me out and I kinda deserve it. I'm the guy who buys the cheap tool twice before finally getting the good one, you know? Honestly I think I psyched myself out after watching too many pro painter videos and expected a $400 gun to spray like a $1,500 one. My first real sprayer was a total lemon though, maybe I should just admit I got unlucky and try something like that DeVilbiss you're talking about. What's the chance I strike out twice in a row right? Probably about as good as my luck with anything else I buy used on Craigslist.
