Man, that makes me rethink things. I used to get mad when insurance would total a vehicle instead of fixing it. But last year I saw a similar older truck get a dented bed and bent frame. The repair bill was way more than the truck's book value. Suddenly it made sense why they'd just write a check. Sometimes fixing it really isn't worth it.

Honestly, that reminds me of the time my cousin's work truck got broken into for the tools in the back. Tbh, the cops basically told him it was a lost cause and to just file the insurance claim. Ngl, it's like what @cooper.kai said, where the cost to fix or replace everything just wasn't worth the hassle compared to the truck's value. Makes you wonder if some of these paint gun grabs are just for quick cash to fund other stuff.
