I finally stopped using filler primer on every dent repair
At a shop in Detroit last month, I skimped and skipped the skim coat on a deep hood dent, just hit it with regular primer and blocked it out. The customer called back a week later saying the paint sunk in that spot and now I gotta redo the whole thing for free. Anyone else find out the hard way that shortcuts on metal finishing never pay off?

Did you lay down a separate sealer coat before the base or just trust the primer to hold it?

Did you at least use a high-build primer or was it just regular stuff? I've had it fail on raw wood before and had to strip everything down.
