That $80 spot weld cutter paid off on a 2014 F-150 today
I've been using a cheap drill bit for months and it kept walking on me, but this new cutter punched through clean in under 10 seconds per spot, so has anyone else switched after fighting with worn bits on aluminum panels?

The price of those cutters is hard to swallow, but the results are hard to argue with. Still, I will push back a little here because aluminum is a whole different animal than steel. On steel bodies, a sharp bit and some steady pressure handles most spots just fine, and you can sharpen a bit in a minute. The real trick with aluminum is keeping the speed down and using cutting oil, not just throwing money at a fancy tool. Ten seconds per spot sounds great until you hit a panel that's been patched before or has seam sealer hiding underneath, then that cutter is just as stuck as the rest of us. I have seen guys burn through those expensive cutters on one bad job, and then they are back to the cheap bits anyway. If it works for you, great, but it is not the magic bullet some folks make it out to be.
