That cheap PPG hardener batch from 2022 is still haunting my clear coats
Last month I finally finished a job where the clear started fisheyeing at the 3 week mark, and I traced it back to a bad batch of hardener I bought back in March 2022. That stuff was $38 a quart, seemed like a steal, but I've repainted two hoods and a fender since then trying to fix the fallout. I told the supplier and they just shrugged, said warranty was void because I didn't store it at 70 degrees. Has anyone else had a batch of clear hardener go bad on them without any visible signs at first, and how do you test it before committing to a full panel?
