I finally got my firebox door to seal right after 8 hours of fiddling

The gap was only a quarter inch, but it took a whole Saturday of bending the hinge and packing the gasket with high-temp rope. Anyone else have a better fix for a warped offset door?

Eight hours on a quarter inch gap sounds brutal. When you say you were bending the hinge, were you using heat on it, or just cold bending with a lot of force?
