Just visited Franklin Barbecue and honestly I think the hype is overselling it a bit
Waited 2 hours for a $25 plate last Saturday and the brisket was good but not mind-blowing compared to what I've had at smaller joints in Lockhart, so am I missing something or is it just the location that makes it famous?

Totally agree with you on this. I went last spring and stood in that line for what felt like forever, and when I finally got my plate I was like "that's it?" It was fine brisket but nothing special next to what you can get at a random gas station in Lockhart for half the price and no wait.
