Appreciation post: The week my power bill doubled and I had to get creative
My electric company in Dayton had a rate hike I didn't see coming. Lived off my slow cooker for seven days straight, made a giant pot of bean chili that cost maybe $8 total. Anyone else have a go-to cheap meal for when a bill wipes you out?

Been there. A giant pot of rice and black beans got me through a surprise car repair bill last winter.

Ever try adding a fried egg on top to make it feel like a whole different meal?

Totally get it, my power bill spiked last month too. I used to think slow cooker meals were boring, but a huge pot of lentil soup changed my mind. It's crazy how far a bag of lentils and some veggies can stretch. Good call by @oliver_murphy on the fried egg trick, that really does mix things up.
