Bought a bulk bag of rice thinking I was saving big money
Grabbed a 50 pound bag of jasmine rice from the Asian market for $35, figured it would last me half a year. Turns out I didn't check for weevils before cooking... tossed about $15 worth of rice that had bugs crawling in it. Anyone else ever get burned by buying too much at once?

...wait, you actually tossed it? Dude, you could have just picked the weevils out and rinsed the rice. They float, that's what the first wash is for. I've been buying 50 pound bags for years and I always find a few in there, it's just part of the deal with bulk rice. My grandma used to say a little extra protein never hurt anyone. You threw away $15 worth of perfectly good rice over some bugs that were gonna get washed away anyway. That stings, but at least now you know for next time.

My grandma used to say that too, "a little extra protein never hurt anyone"! Reminds me of the time my brother found a live cricket in a box of spaghetti and just fished it out like it was no big deal.
