Hit $1.50 per meal this week and I'm actually shocked
I used to think meal prep meant spending at least $3 or $4 a serving if you wanted it to taste decent. Then last week I did a full grocery run for 21 dinners plus lunches using only sale items, dry beans, frozen veg, and a whole chicken I broke down myself. Total came to $31.47, which works out to about $1.50 per meal, and I honestly double checked my receipt twice because it didn't seem possible. What convinced me was tracking it in a simple spreadsheet for 2 weeks and seeing my old habit of buying pre-made sauces and fancy grains was where all the money went. The chicken carcass made 6 cups of broth for soup bases too, which I never would have tried before. Has anyone else actually crunched their per meal number and found a way to get under $2 without eating the same boring bowl every day?
