Hit $50 a week on groceries and honestly it felt impossible at first
I started counting every single penny I spent on food for a month and was shocked when I hit exactly $50 for the week. That meant chicken thighs were my best friend and rice came in a 10 pound bag from the Asian market. My roommate laughed when I pulled out a scale to measure out olive oil, but hey it worked. Anyone else try to hit a crazy low number and find a secret trick that saved you?

Biggest game changer for me was realizing that most recipes call for WAY more olive oil than you actually need. Cut that in half and you save like a buck a meal without even noticing.

Oh totally, @gavin_clark you are so right about that... I started doing the same thing a few years ago and honestly it changed how I cook. Recipes act like you need to drown everything in oil, but really you just need enough to coat the pan and get that little sizzle going. I even started measuring it out with a spoon instead of just pouring straight from the bottle, which was a huge wake up call... like I was using three tablespoons when one would have been fine. It's crazy how much less fat you can get away with and the food still tastes just as good, maybe even better since it doesn't get greasy. Seriously, cutting oil in half is one of those small tricks that adds up fast without making you feel like you're missing out.
