I switched from buying pre-cut veggies to whole ones and saved $15 a week

I used to grab those bags of pre-cut broccoli and cauliflower florets because they seemed easy, but I finally did the math. A bag of florets cost $4.50 at my store, while a whole head of broccoli was $1.99. I bought two whole heads, chopped them myself in about 10 minutes, and got over three times the amount of food for less money. The same thing happened with bell peppers; a single pre-cut pepper cup was $3, but a whole pepper was $1.29. The pre-cut stuff also goes bad way faster in my fridge. Now I spend a little time on Sunday prepping, and it makes dinners during the week just as fast. Has anyone else found a simple switch like this that added up fast?

Tried that with onions and cried for twenty minutes straight.

It's the same with salad kits for me. The bagged Caesar kit is almost six bucks, but a head of romaine, some croutons, and a bottle of dressing costs less and makes salads for days. The kits always seem to get soggy so fast.
